About The H.E.A.L.T.H Committee

GENERAL
This committee was brand new in 2008 and was started for parents of children who have any kind of illness, allergy or other health condition. However we greatly encourage all parents to come to our meetings, as we believe that knowledge and understand are the keys to better health for all children.

It is mainly to give parents a place to go for support, share ideas or just have a chat. We do have another important role, and that is to assist in the creation, or modification, of policies to allow students, teachers, admin staff and parents to live, work and play in our school environment with confidence.

We are also the new port of call for the Healthy Choices policies and protocols, but this is a very large task so we really do need more than just 5 members!.

We meet about once a term at the moment in an informal and friendly manner over coffee, morning tea, or at night. Our 5 members have managed to achieve the following things in our short history:

• Putting up posters and raising awareness for National Allergy Week
• Giving input for and reviewing the OSHC Additional Care Requirements Policy
• Creating our first health-specific newsletter (and continuing to produce it!)
• Beginning to raise awareness for National Diabetes Week

We are obviously pleased with this effort, but know that there is a lot more than can be done. So please contact us if you have any suggestions or just want to meet up with other parents who understand that childhood illnesses and conditions can create challenges out of simple, every day tasks.

We have also now created a Recipe Page with the recipes from our newsletters. So please have a look and contact us if you have any yummy suggestions!
